WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS

Chocolate @ No5
Chocolate @ No5, a boutique chocolate cafe located in the Hills, is owned by Sophie and Peter Zervas (pictured above with Hills tourism spokesperson Catriona Rowntree).

Chocolate @ No5

We like to promote the fact that we source our chocolates locally, nationally and internationally. Locally from Cocolat , nationally from Chocolatier Australia (Melbourne based using Belgian Couverture Chocolate) and Max Brenner (Melbourne, Sydney & worldwide), and internationally from Alice Chocolate (New York based made in Switzerland, well known in New York to be the Chanel N°5 of Chocolate) and MarieBelle (New York based), and still in the process of sourcing more luxurious, unique chocolate brands ie Melt Chocolate (London based) and many more. We also supply a small range of non-chocolate products that must connect with our luxurious theme.

Our cafe menu is quite similar to the theme of Max Brenner; Hot Chocolates, Iced Chocolates and Chocolate Milkshakes made with melted Belgian Chocolate, Chocolate Fondues, Belgian Sugar Waffles served with melted Belgian Chocolate, Strawberries and Icecream, and various other decadent chocolate desserts. One of our best sellers has been our exclusive N°5 Cakes made exclusively for Chocolate @ N°5. These individual cakes come in four different flavours; Chocolate, Chocolate and Orange, Chocolate and Hazelnut, and Chocolate and Raspberry. We also have a variety of homemade desserts and treats; Mum's Chocolate Tiramisu served with Raspberry Coulis, Grandma's Mocha Walnut Gateaux, Baklava, Chocolate Surprise Muffins, Cupcakes and Cookies. These homemade desserts and treats have been a hit as opposed to commercially made products. Our desserts do have more of a rustic feel.

In the News

Locavore

Locavore's first major function in July is the launch of the new wind-farm at Burra and 130 people, including the Premier and other dignitaries will be in attendance.

The Sydney-based company organising the event wanted to use an eco-friendly business to complement the nature of the project.

Locavore has designed a menu to suit the different stages of the day bearing in mind they will be in a marquee on top of a hill, which one would safely assume could be windy.

Gold and Silver

Woodside Cheese Wrights receives gold & silver medals in the 2008 Dairy Industry Association of Australia Victorian Division
Class 90
Gold Medal - Etzy Ketzy
Silver medal - Figaro

We are very pleased to receive a gold medal for our new cheese Etzy Ketzy. Woodside Cheese Wrights is the only Australian cheese maker producing a half cow, half goat milk washed rind cheese, this can be added to the success of a string of new cheeses recently awarded gold medals at several competitions held in Australia.

Kris Lloyd (pictured) has developed an eclectic range of new cheeses to add to the Woodside portfolio.

Etzy Ketzy is a luscious, washed rind cheese with a fine texture and subtle flavour. We use 50% goat milk and 50% Friesian Cow milk for this cheese.

The flavour of Etzy Ketzy is complex, but not overpowering with a clean, herbaceous palate structure and delicate finish. It can be eaten from 2 weeks of age when it is still slightly firm.

At about 4 weeks from the make date it is fully ripe, the flavours become more intense and creamy inside.

Ideally Etzy Ketzy needs only a short rest at room temperature before serving. The time is best determined by feeling the cheese for the softness level that suits you.

Etzy Ketzy is ideal for the cheese plate served with seasonal fruit or quince paste.

The cheese is named in honour of my Greek Maternal Grandfather, who would always reply to me as a young child when asked “ how are you today, Grandpa?”

“ETZY KETZY” he would say – 50 /50, Half cow – Half goat.

State Environmental Award

Winemakers Sue and Sean Delaney of Sinclair's Gully were awarded the April 2008 State Environmental Award for SA.

Ramsay wants to outlaw out-of-season produce

Celebrity British chef Gordon "F*****g" Ramsay says restaurants should be fined if they serve out-of-season fruit and vegetables.

"I don't want to see asparagus in the middle of December. I don't want to see strawberries from Kenya in the middle of March. I want to see it home-grown," he said after raising his concerns with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

"Fruit and veg should be seasonal. Chefs should be fined if they don't have ingredients in season on their menu," he told the BBC.

Ramsay, whose London restaurants include Petrus and The Savoy Grill, said Britain had become a nation of lazy eaters who followed trends and fads rather than substance.

"There should be stringent laws, licensing laws, to make sure produce is only used in season and season only," he added.

Your chance to shine

Adelaide Hills tourism and related businesses are being encouraged to enter this year’s SA Great Regional Awards and the South Australian Tourism Awards, with both organisations recently launching their 2008 programs.

Nominations for the SA Great Regional Awards 2008 opened recently and close on July 11 with actual entries due by August 15.

The SA Great Regional Awards recognise and celebrate individuals and communities who have made a significant contribution to regional pride in SA.

Adelaide Hills Tourism is proud to again partner SA Great for these awards, with tourism categories including attractions, festivals & events, tourism services, tourism restaurants & catering services, tourism wineries and outstanding contribution by an individual. Accommodation categories are hosted/traditional, self-contained, standard and deluxe.

There are numerous benefits to entering the Adelaide Hills SA Great Regional Awards:

· Entering the Awards will enable you to review your business and to identify opportunities for improvement
· The Adelaide Hills Regional Awards are the ideal springboard to the State and National Tourism Awards
· Category winners will be reimbursed for their nomination fee for the 2009 South Australian Tourism Awards and be given a subsidy to contract a consultant to assist with their awards submission

· Winning an Award will help your business be recognised as a leader in its field, and this can be used as a valuable promotional tool in advertising and marketing activities

· Winners will be featured in a special ‘Tourism Awards’ section of the Four Seasons newsletter, distributed to media and 300 businesses in the Adelaide Hills

Nomination forms are available online at www.sagreat.com.au or by contacting AHT. The awards night will be held Wednesday 3 December, at Auchendarroch House, Mount Barker.

Adelaide Hills Tourism encourages you to nominate your business or your peers.

Meanwhile, the South Australian Tourism Awards are held annually and form part of the Australian Tourism Awards. Nationally, the Awards process aims to recognise and promote excellence in tourism. The range of categories has evolved to reflect the changes that have occurred within the industry. The Awards are a submission and site visit based competition for tourism businesses and industry suppliers. The Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner provides the opportunity to publicly recognise and showcase this state’s finest tourism operators.

Entering the South Australian Tourism Awards provides an opportunity for you to:

· Review goals and record achievements
· Benchmark against other professionals
· Showcase your success to the industry and public
· Contribute to raising the standards within the tourism industry
· Receive recognition of excellence by your peers
· Raise the profile and awareness of your business
· Provide a potential marketing advantage and increased business

Depending on the standard of entry, entrants may be acknowledged with a gold, silver or bronze medal. The winner (the entrant with the highest score) in each category will go on to contest the Australian Tourism Awards in Melbourne in February 2009.

There are 27 categories in this year’s awards, including tour/transport operators, wineries, tourism retailing, restaurants, events, outstanding individuals, B&Bs, luxury hotels and backpacker accommodation.

Nominations close on July 11 and submissions are due by August 18. The Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday, November 22, at the Adelaide Convention Centre. For more information refer to the South Australian Tourism Awards website www.satourismawards.com.au
